Whether you are looking to add the finishing touches on your kitchen or have picked a newfound loved for cooking, or you need a capable workspace. There are many reasons to update your kitchen sink.

We have made a list of different types of kitchen sinks, each type has its own pros and cons.

TYPES OF KITCHEN SINKS

FARMHOUSE SINK

Also, known as an apron sink, extends over the edge of your counter. This type of sink is most used in traditional farmhouse style kitchen and can be designed with both single or double bowl. They are made using fireclay or cast iron, which is durable and easy to clean. It has a deep basin that is perfect for big families.

UNDERMOUNT SINK

This type of sink in installed directly under the counter, creating a seamless look. It is versatile and works with most kitchen layouts. This sink is easy to clean because the debris can be pushed straight into the sink. It is important to consider the weight of the sink. It is installed using glue which attaches to the under sink of the counter and the sink.

STAINLESS STEEL SINK

The top single bowl stainless steel sink is light in weight and easy to install. This sink is categorized by sheeting thickness. A thinker gauge means the sink is heavier and cheaper, and thinner gauge means the sink is light and expensive. Stainless steel sink is noisier and they can dent easily, but they offer great heat and stain resistance.

BAR SINK

This type of sink is smaller and more shallow than your average kitchen sink. They are typically a single bowl design used for prep work, making drinks, and convenient clean-ups. This sink is best for the home bar, terrace or patio.

CORNER SINK

Corner sinks are installed on a corner of your counter. Two basins are set apart from each other, in a catty-corner manner. This unique design is used when you are looking to maximize your counter space. They are relatively expensive and difficult to install. Since counters are seamed at the corner, making cuts will add to the total cost of installation.

GRANITE COMPOSITE SINK

Before making a purchase, it is important to know about granite sinks. They are constructed by gluing crushed granite together with a resin filler. This type of sink is extremely durable and stain-resistant while providing a modern look to your kitchen. They are also known for their sound-absorbing effect due to its density. Granite sinks are heavier than stainless steel sink and required structural support to accommodate extra weight.

FIRECLAY SINK

Fireclay sink is made from clay and glazes fuzing together at high temperatures. They are identical to cast iron sinks but more durable. They won't chip, etch or stain. You can use abrasive cleaners to clean it as well.

SINGLE BOWL SINK

This type of sink is great for a small kitchen with limited counter space. Single bowl sinks allow you to clean large cookware with ease because you can lay them flat at the bottom and not worry about the debris splashing onto the counter. They are not ideal for multitasking like cleaning and cooking at the same time.

TOP MOUNT KITCHEN SINK

Also known as a drop-in sink, drops into the counter, which creates a lip or rim around the sink. They are easy to install and provide extra support. One thing to consider before buying is, the debris can get caught on the lip and make cleanups more difficult.
