Indian Standard

was Dr. Lal C.Verman. In the initial phase of this institution, it focused on

1955-56, it officially announced a certification marking scheme under the Act,
1952. To check the quality of products ISI started their laboratory in 1963. On
November 26, 1986, a bill was passed in the parliament and after that Bureau of
Indian Standards came into existence. This body constitutes 25 members from
state and central government.
Who can apply for BIS
registration?
Only manufacturers are
eligible to apply for BIS registration India. Retailers and traders need
not apply for BIS registration. You have to check whether your product falls
into the category of mandatory product list. If your product does not lie under
the mandatory product list, then nobody forces you to apply for BIS
registration. A separate registration number (R-Number) is provided for each
product registered under BIS.
