The unbalanced equation.
I commented on an article about spammers and scammers. The contention of the OP was that spamming and scamming is not such a great problem. I pointed out that keepimg your own small corner of the web free of scams and spam is not a very effective way of avoiding external controls being applied to internet marketing by government censorship and regulators.
The OP responded to my comment by saying that he did not understand my position because I am not a marketer. This is my response to him:-
You don't understand my position because I am not a marketer?
Can't you see how precisely you have high-lighted the major problem of all internet marketers? I am a potential customer! I buy things on the web! I spend money on the web!
You are an internet marketer but you are telling me, a potential customer, that you don't understand my position - HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO SELL TO ME?
As a customer I am probably more aware of the lies and traps set up by internet marketers because I AM ONE OF THOSE WHO, WITHOUT NECESSARILY ASSUMING THAT EVERY INTERNET MARKETER IS A LIAR AT HEART, WILL FALL INTO THE TRAPS!
Nor can I believe that those who call themselves internet marketers will ever have the skill or desire to self regulate because they do not consider their customers to be an important part of the equation! I visit Apsense type sites to see what to avoid!
ISN'T THAT SAD?
I have repeated my response verbatim because I think that the OP is not alone in not understanding potential customers. Internet marketers are so tied up in gratuitous verbiage and the false claims of their peers that they have lost sight of the fact that the customer is the source of all revenue. They are competing with each other in what is, in effect, a pissing contest. Instead of simply wetting the wall, they should be working on ways to break through the wall to get at people like me - POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS who are hiding on the other side! Understand me and you are a little closer to selling to me. Treat me like another lying, cheating and untrustworthy internet marketer and the price for not knowing me is the one paid by 95% of all wannabe internet marketers. Lack of income.

Not only as you have posted concerning customers Arthur, they are setting themselves up to pay the price for the actions of the scammers and spammer who will disappear when all those regulations get imposed at which time they can give what little revenue they make to the various gov't agencies in order to comply with the regulations they invited by their inaction. Time to edit my article and include a link to this.

Wel said Arthur, if only these " marketers" would treat their business and customers online and use the same moral compass and fundamentals as they would have to in a offline business they may find a healthier bank balance one day
