The Features of Diaphragm Valve

by Jeremy Liang SEO specialist
Diaphragm valve is a special form of sanitary shut-off valve. It first appeared in the 1920s. Its opening and closing member is a piece of diaphragm made of soft materials, which separates the inner chamber of the valve body, the inner chamber of the valve cover and the actuating parts, hence the name diaphragm valve.

The features of diaphragm valve are as follows: the most prominent feature is that the diaphragm separates the inner chamber of the lower part of the valve body and the inner chamber of the upper part of the valve cover, so that the parts such as valve stem and valve flap above the diaphragm are free from medium corrosion, which saves the filler sealing structure and eliminates medium leakage. Diaphragm made of soft sealing such as rubber or plastics has a good sealing performance. As diaphragm is prone to damage, it should be regularly replaced depending on medium characteristics.

Due to the limitations of diaphragm materials, diaphragm valve is suitable for use in occasions where the pressure is low and the temperature is relatively low.

According to the structure, diaphragm valve can be divided into: house type, direct flow type, shut-off type, straight-through type, gate type and right angle type. The connection type is usually flange connection. According to the actuating method, it can be divided into manual, electric and pneumatic types. And pneumatic actuation is divided into always-on, always-off and reciprocating types.
