The British Take Pleasures In The Costa Del Sol Properties

Costa del Sol
We’re
sure that if you’re browsing our blog here at BM Sotogrande, perhaps due to an
existing interest in purchasing Sotogrande property, you won’t need us
to draw your attention to the many charms of this sunny and picturesque part of
Spain. For some people, however, it might be handy to have a reminder of just
how rewarding it is to spend time on the Costa del Sol.
That’s
why we were delighted to learn of a new promotional campaign for the region,
spearheaded by Turismo Costa del Sol.
What’s involved in the advertising campaign?
According
to the largest English newspaper in Spain, EuroWeekly News, the
“Suntalgia” initiative will be present across social media and more than 500
screens in London, as the southern Spanish region seeks to appeal directly to
would-be tourists from the UK. It is also set to feature on the video live
streaming platform Twitch, where it is hoped the campaign will attract nearly
50 million hits.
The
campaign was announced by Francisco Salado, president of Costa del Sol Tourism,
as he pledged that amid recent falls in the numbers of Britons visiting this
area of Spain, the region was not “going to spare efforts, resources or new
ideas” to re-conquer “our main foreign market”.
Turismo
Costa del Sol’s commitment to reaching out to Britons has even included a
presence at the recent World Travel Market (WTM) in London, in addition to
recording with British actors in the UK.
Recovering from the stresses and strains of the COVID-19
pandemic
The
numbers tell their own story about how dramatically the coronavirus crisis has
impacted on British tourism to the Costa del Sol over the last two years. While
nearly three million British passengers arrived at Malaga Airport in 2019, the
equivalent figure for the year after that was barely half a million, amounting
to an 81% drop.
Amid
the considerable restrictions that have been placed on travel between the two
countries in recent times, such declines in tourist numbers can hardly be
considered a shock. Nonetheless, the situation also underlines how now is the
perfect moment for Britons to be reminded of all the things that caused them to
fall in love with the Costa del Sol.
Having
said this, as we recently wrote about here on
the BM Sotogrande blog,
there are also plenty of people from the UK who have not forgotten about the
attractions of this stunning coastal region. This may be attributable to
different preferences among buyers since the onset of the pandemic, as many
people consider adopting a home-working lifestyle from their Sotogrande
property.
For
a more detailed conversation about how we could assist you in your own
ambitions in relation to the Sotogrande property market, why not visit us in person at our Pueblo Nuevo offices, or phone or email us? We stand ready and
waiting to help you to make the most of the Costa del Sol region’s pleasures
for yourself, wherever you are presently based in the world.
