When outfit shopping for your newborns, a common question that many parents have is how to dress your child comfortably in every season. Whatever the weather outside, you want to ensure that your little one is always cozy and comfy. So how do you buy baby clothes that are seasonally-appropriate?

- Think ahead

Babies grow very quickly so something that may fit them in January may not necessarily fit them in March. Plan for the weather that is yet to come and always buy a size that’s slightly bigger so that it lasts longer.

- Pick breathable, comfortable fabrics

The kind of fabric that you choose for your newborn baby’s clothing is extremely important. Light, soft and breathable fabrics are far better than fabrics that could possibly irritate baby’s skin. For example, fabrics such as fleece can potentially irritate your baby’s delicate skin. Choose gentle, non-irritating fabrics like muslin, bamboo and cotton. Whether summer or winter, making sure that you buy soft and good-quality fabric is very important.

Layers are your baby’s best friend and the best way to keep them comfortable no matter what the weather. This works really well to keep them cozy in colder weather. If your baby looks like he/she is getting too hot, you can remove a few layers. Vests, tights, bodysuits are all great for layering. This is a simple but essential tip for dressing your baby.
