Quickly Establish An Impressive Armoury Of Carving Tools With Our Introductory Set

by Liz Seyi Digital marketing manager

Woodcarving has many charms, not least the ease with which one can get into this remarkable craft without the need for too much investment in either machinery or equipment. Or at least, that is the case in theory – in practice, even the most tentative beginner woodcarver may invest in their first tool, only to soon hanker for another, and then another in order to pursue their desired projects.

The truth is that one tool is rarely enough for even relatively inexperienced carvers undertaking the simplest of projects, and purchasing the complete set of tools needed for even merely intermediate-level carving tasks can feel prohibitively expensive for the novice. This is what motivated us here at The ToolPost to release our own series of carving tools specifically geared towards the wishes of the beginner in need of a cost-effective, but comprehensive set of tools.

What is included in our basic toolset?

All of the basic tools that the newcomer carver could require to take on all manner of small projects with confidence are included in our introductory set. No fewer than six tools are featured in this ‘basic’ set, namely a 10mm double-bevel square chisel, 9mm double-bevel skew chisel, three shallow gouges measuring 4mm, 5mm and 7mm, and a 4mm x 60-degree vee tool.

These tools are designed for hand use with their 100mm long x 21mm diameter hardwood handles, while their blades are hand forged from high carbon steel and hardened and tempered to hold a fine edge. The set is priced at just £40 including VAT, but for those who wish to ensure the best possible protection for their tools, a version of the set with a real leather ten-pocket carver’s toolroll is also available, the complete set, with toolroll, retailing for £50 including VAT.

The space for extra tools when you need them

We realise here at The ToolPost that when you are an enthusiastic beginner woodcarver, even once you have bought your first set of tools, it can be very easy to get ‘carried away’ and soon start thinking about the additional tools that one could buy – so allow us to help you with that!

Yes, that’s right – we also have available a companion ‘extension’ set comprising an additional four chisels. They resemble our introductory tools in terms of style, except that the set comprises a 4mm deep gouge, 1.5mm veiner (U-profile), 4mm curved 60-degree vee tool and 12mm bent square chisel. This extension set can be purchased separately for a mere £27.60.

With both sets available from us together for just £67.60 – or £77.60 if the toolroll is also included – there surely can’t be a better Christmas gift for an avid beginner crafter. Alternatively, it may represent a great investment for yourself if you are only just getting into carving and wish to have all of the tools you require to take on a variety of small projects.

As you would expect, this very useful, desirable and good-value set can only be bought from The ToolPost!
