by Pie Chan Digital marketer

Are you confused about potty training your child? You are not alone. Potty training is a tough job for many parents. Follow this article to learn the right mindset for potty training your toddler.

First off, potty training is not only about the methods you choose, it's also about your mindsetMany parents think it's all about methods and they end up spending loads of time spinning their wheels trying to get their kid to go to potty consistently. Let's delve a bit deeper and see what these mindsets are.

You have to be consistent with your child's potty training. Follow a strict routine for potty training - taking your kid to potty every 30 minutes, not going back to diapers once you start potty training (except during nighttime or naps) and following the rules you set with your child for rewards and consequences are some of the things you need to keep in mind. If you are not consistent it will send your kid mixed messages and the results will be inconsistent.

Роttу trаіnіng саn bе а frustrаtіng оrdеаl fоr уоu аnd уоur child іf уоu lеt іt bе. So, keep your calm and do not make it a big deal if accidents happen. Let them know that they are supposed to pee or poop in the potty next time and move on. Celebrate each success along the way. Praise your kid whenever they go to potty successfully. Let them know that you are proud of their efforts and progress.

Never punish or shame your toddler for potty accidents. Always have a positive mindset and use positive reinforcement such as rewards and praise as mentioned above. Be with your child no matter what happens during your potty training journey.

Tips:

Give praise or rewards immediately after the desired behavior. This will reinforce the behaviour.

Give your kid plenty of water or juice during the training process. This will make them pee more often. The more they practice the better they will become at using the potty.

A sticker chart is an effective tool for potty training - most toddlers love stickers.

In short, right mindset, consistency and patience are the keys to successful potty training.
