New Google Integration to Include Chat, Rooms, Mail, and Meet

Google is coming out with a one-stop integrated platform for all of its communication tools. It will incorporate Gmail, Google Chat, Rooms, and Google Meet. Just ahead of the company’s big Google Cloud Conference, a design reveal suggests “Gmail for G Suite” business users. The move poses a direct threat to existing players like Slack and Microsoft, only for Suite users as of yet.

Employers and employees were both facing issues with the time consumed in shifting between different communication platforms. Switching tabs can become a burden when you’re spending considerable time doing just that. Javier Soltero was hired to take over the existing communications interface provided by Google. He calls the project an “integrated workspace” so that you can achieve more in less time.

The main change is the unification

As of now, the big difference would be that the four different apps will be unified into one single app for your phone, and into a separate window on your desktop. Understandably, this would significantly decrease the time spent switching, with everything together in the same place. A desktop user can have a doc open, alongside a chat and a video chat bubble on top of them both. Welcome to the future of connecting and communicating!

Google is planning on a holistic network system

As we see more and more communication platforms integrating, we can assume Google is working on creating a single stop where you can control all your apps and tools. This will enhance user experience and give you the ability to manage notifications, alerts, and actions more freely and easily. Join in on a video call straight from chat, or create a to-do list in your chatbox. It provides some useful and practical solutions. And the future looks brighter.

Gmail can rope in many more users

With its glaring dominance globally with email users, an integrated Gmail with other Google tools will make for a potent edge over competitors like Microsoft. The Google tools are in some measure or the other overlapping their functions. Docs, Chat, Keep and Gmail itself see several similar features and operations. And Mr. Soltero agrees with the fact that there are some overlaps, but they exist because of the inceptions of these products. They are individually birthed ideas with different end goals but similar core values. The integration of work was the main problem that people faced.

Collaborative apps are the need of the hour

With more remote work happening currently than in the history of technology, it is very evident that the need for such platforms is at an all-time high. Thus, this move comes in line with the future we envisage today; one where remote work is as smooth and effective, as working near each other. The examples of which we’ve seen in the recent past as the global pandemic hit and all the industries were forced into working from afar.
