The greatest problems of the our society has a root cause that is illiteracy. Illiteracy is a term that does not merely signify the lack of education in the society. There is a vast difference between being literate and being educated. A literate person may read, write and understand but it is not necessarily aware,responsible.

The problem is we are turning into a literate society instead of an educated society. Education includes and turns a person into a visionary, intellectual and rational entity. That is what the need of the hour is. Reading and writing is not good enough. We need to comprehend and logically interpret the situation. We are too much inclined over rampant increase of the literacy rate but the point is this is what we want our society to be.

We are turning into a human and morally less community. Just being literate wont help the cause we need to be aware as well that is what the motive of the education is all about. We need to increase and widen the meaning of education. Along with literacy we need to include moral values among the young. We must turn into an aware educated class rather than just being an ordinary literate society with no thought process. The choice is all ours to think what we must be. Many Non-government organizations working in the problems of Education, Skill development and many related issues.
