Kit Harington Wouldn’t Play Any More Heroic Characters

by Andria Scott Writer

Recently, in the report of The Independent, Harington does not want to play any more silent heroes characters, with repressed emotions. Harington feels that it is a wrong notion that strong men do not discuss their feelings and is the sign of weakness. He shared that the mindset is the inherited trauma that was initiated during World War II and said that masculinity does not need that anymore. Harington also discussed the gender fluidity that his mother taught him while raising him. His mother used to encourage him to play with toys that are coded as boys and girls; she also used to buy him dolls when Harington asked for an action figure. He reinforced to seek new portrayals of masculinity.

Harington cleared that he will not ever appear as Jon Snow in any season of Game of Thrones spinoff, and retired from the character. Christopher Catesby Harington aka Kit Harington is an English producer and actor. He gained popularity from the role of Jon Snow in Game of Thrones. He was nominated for Golden Globe Award for Best Actor- Television Series Drama in 2019, for two Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2016 and also for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2019.

Harington produced, developed, and starred in the drama series, Gunpowder in 2017  on BBC. And he could quickly typecast, who has voiced for an animated character How to Train Your Dragon and as the Black Knight. So hopefully from now, his fans would see him in some different roles.

Before entering the acting field, Harington wanted to become a journalist. Later he landed the character of Albert in the National Theatre, which was an adaptation of War Horse. And he won two Olivier Awards for his performances.

The character Jon Snow was such a recognizable character of masculinity, and it is commendable that Kit Harington wants to provide new characters as role models for boys and men. When his long run show Game of Thrones ended, he felt extraordinarily pressurized and took a sabbatical due to stress. Harrington certainly has a desire for new role model characters. He played the character of Jon Snow very accurately and amazingly, and the fans can imagine no other actor in the role of their favorite Jon Snow for nine years. The audiences went through the evolution of the silent hero and yet can feel his every emotion. Harington’s fans will wait for his new such memorable characters. I hope this was a fun and informative article for you.
