According to a report by IndieWire, Jake Gyllenhaal has reportedly signed a new TV series which is an adaptation of a New York article.

Jake Gyllenhaal is reportedly very much excited with the project, the story of which will also be written by Janicza Bravo.

Bravo has written the script and directed the upcoming film “Zola.” She is now teaming up with Annapurna to create the series adaptation of an article written by Ian Parker.

The article which Parker published in February 2019 is about a former book editor Dan Mallory. The Deadline reports that the series will feature an unreliable protagonist who thinks he has a brain tumor and mourns folks who are not even dead yet. The narrator will always try to get away with anything he does by using everyone’s sympathy.

The central character is a caucasian man, suffering from pathological issues. He feels empty, and in order to fill the void, he dupes people. The TV series will centre around this whiteness and how the audience makes room for the protagonist’s behavior.

Bravo will also be the co-writer of the script alongside Brian Savelson. She will also executively produce the show alongside Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker.

The release date and the distributor of the series haven’t been revealed yet.  Bravo, along with Gyllenhaal, is gearing up for bringing the article to TV with support from Annapurna.

Bravo holds a pedigree of directing critically acclaimed episodes of “Atlanta” and Amazon Prime’s 2018 show Forever. “Zola” will be her second feature film. The first one was “Lemon” which was an independent comedy released in 2017.
