Jacket and Shirt Printing—Material Checklist

by Mohit J. White Hat Link Building Services

When you are doing Singapore shirt printing, you should make sure that it is good quality material, whether it is a t-shirt or a regular shirt.  Printing on a shirt can be stress-free, easy, and a profitable business as long as you have the right materials.  There is a lot of materials that you can use for printing on shirts but what you need will depend on the scale of the printing.

Below there are some of the common materials that you will need for shirt and jacket printing.

  • Heat press machine—this is the type of machine that you will need to transfer graphics and artwork to your shirts and jackets. They can also be used to print on other things like mouse pads and tote bags.  These types of machines can range from commercial-grade machines to electric ones to those that do not require electricity.

What type you need to get will depend on what you will use it for and your budget.  If you are just starting your Singapore shirt printing business, it is advisable that you start with an electric or manual heat press machine.  This machine is essential if you are printing bulk orders with all the same designs.  For this type of printing, you should purchase a 16x20 machine.

  • Inkjet printer—this is an important piece of equipment if you are going to use the method of digital heat press. This is a method that will let you transfer a printed design from transfer paper to the shirt.  You would use the heat press machine for this technique.  The printer will print the design on paper using a good quality ink.
  • Screen—this is something else you will need if you are doing shirt printing. It is a simple material that you can use if you are doing small batches of shirt printing at home.  The primary use for this material is to make stencils, which are then transferred onto the shirt.  The drawback with this method is that for each color you use, you will need a different screen.  The screen should have a high mesh count to get a great design.  For general printing, the mesh count should be between 20-150.
  • Ink—this is crucial material when you are doing shirt or jacket printing. You cannot have a design without ink.  There are different inks that are used for printing, such as water-based or plastisol inks.  You will need solvent ink.  With so many colors to choose from, you should start with the basics, which include white, black, yellow, blue, or red.  To get a more precise outcome, you should also have a scale to weigh the paint before you blend colors.

Conclusion

These are the basic materials if you want to start your own shirt printing business.  If you are using the screen printing method, there are additional items that you will need.  You can check online to see what these are and how to use them.
