How to Turn Your Boring Interior into a New and Refreshed Home with Colors?

by Spaces Designed Hi, I am Komal Sheth - Founder of Spaces Designed

If you have had enough of your drab and dreary living space, now may be the right time to introduce some lovely colors into it. And no... not the "tried and true" whites, neutrals and soft pastels either. We are talking a rainbow of brilliant hues (red, purple, blue, orange, yellow, green, pink and the likes) to add just a gentle touch of excitement, fun, and life to your living space and get you in the right mood. With that said, we have come up with some unique and creative ways to help you add color to your interior design in Austin, TX, and turn the excitement of your living space up a notch (or two!)

Set things in motion with the decor

Perhaps the most convenient way to add colors to your home is by seamlessly incorporating colors into your decor. A few updates to your table lamps or wall arts can completely transform the way your interior looks (and feels). From rosy pink to emerald, tangerine to lime, go for any shade your heart so desires.

Next, move on to the doors.

Take a quick walk through your house. What color(s) is/are your doors? Are they a plain, typical off-white? Are they a solid shade of brown because of the wood they are made of? Do you have any doors with a splash of color in your home? If not, you definitely should. Doors painted in gleaming colors serve as spectacular statement pieces for your home and will give you a reason to smile about every time to enter your room(s).

Do not forget the walls

Painting your walls (or a wall, if you are looking for something more subtle) in a striking shade is a fantastic way to give your interior space a spell of pep. What you can do is contrast your walls to your decor by using different shades in every nook and cranny... or tie everything together by adding decor that features an accent color from your wall.

What about the unexpected places?

Kitchens are the heart of any home, but do they need to be washed out in their appearance? Certainly not... Flamboyant cabinetry, jewel-toned ranges, and colorful tiles in every shade of the rainbow are all excellent ways to put a bold twist on your cooking space and make space uniquely 'yours.'

Mix it all up

It may sound intimidating, but mixing colors in your interior design is not as difficult as you would suspect. Just call a color wheel into play and settle on colors that are opposite to one another. Complementing a bold color with another color one just as bold will go a long way in adding visual interest to your space... without coming off as tacky.

While neutral shades are timeless, calm and serene, one has to agree that bold colors do exhibit more personality and interest - whether it be in residential or commercial interior design. So, latch on to the above-mentioned tips and not only will your home look amazing, but will express your personality and be as intriguing as you are.
