How to Tune Up Effective Remote Work with Your Development Team

by John Smith Learner

If you have no previous experience working with a remote software development team, this may not stop you from trying. If you learn to control the work effectively enough from the start, you will be able to empower professionals (you hire a team that needs all the management, experience, tools and -Cost much less than a team) and avoid disadvantages (lack and lack of transparency). But they can be overcome - otherwise the remote team will not offer countless popular Fleet maintenance software products. Let's see how this is done.

Project manager: the link between business and technology

• There is no effective teleworking without a dedicated project manager (PM) unless you have the skills and time to fully immerse yourself in day-to-day management. If you have little or no time for daily calls, if you need to focus on key business tasks, you need to provide a background for that person. The Prime Minister will take on all communication responsibilities with team members.

• The Prime Minister is your representative in the software company of your choice. This person is your "translator" for designers, developers and quality assurance engineers. For example, detailed "social networking integration" can mean a lot, and if you're not sure about the exact processes (such as sharing a modified photo on Instagram with a click), this is the person who helps you - unless you're human. The technician is competent and has time to review his requirements.

• PM obtains requirements, creates stories in the point tracking system (eg Redmine, Pivotal Tracker, Cumin), divides them into tasks and assigns them to team members. If you are implementing a project in a separate market (eg Alliance, Guru, Odesk), screenshots of the developer screen Fleet maintenance software will be displayed to check the working time.

Contact settings

Here we need to know whether you have the desire and the time to be actively involved in this process - and whether you are a technical person or not.

• The best effect is provided by face-to-face interaction, which is not possible with outsourcing. But your team should have all the tools to make the meeting face to face. This could be a Skype video call between you and your boss and possibly many other team members. It must be possible to share screenshots and other documents, edit / discuss on screen. If for some reason the video call causes discomfort, the audio call may also work. Then chat on Skype, Google Hangouts, and more.

• Less effective communication is limited to email and problem tracking systems. This limits your interaction with the question and answer system - when the Prime Minister examines your documents, discusses them with the team and creates a list of questions to make the most of the mail. This is not correct, and if you do not have time to make daily calls, you can do so after each repetition (usually every two weeks) to discuss the results and meet future requirements. Huh.

• If you have no technical basis and your requirements are unclear and a little frustrated, it is the job of a good prime minister to make them consistent, to understand what you want to achieve. Prepare again ahead of time by describing all the possible documents, features and graphics. Each selected and accepted task will be discussed and undertaken by the selected team member.

• It would be good to describe the functions from the user's point of view. The simplest example is to add a filter to an image: "The user should be able to select an image in the gallery, then select a filter, and click OK to apply the filter." In the meantime, your team will be able to break it down into artwork: check out existing libraries with the necessary filters, customize the library, Fleet maintenance software use image selection from the gallery, and more.

• You have access to a problem tracker with tasks and errors related to your project. And if you are a technical person, you can write the requirements in the tasks and stories yourself. You can participate in daily calls to developers. They will tell you exactly what has been done and what needs to be done - and if they have questions about their actions.

• You can participate in story planning (such as sharing integration), which is divided into tasks: search API; Design the item you want on the screen, such as the share icon; Then execution, etc.
