For Windows

Step One - Configure the scan to file feature.

On Windows 7 and Windows 10 - You need to click on the start menu, All Programs or All Apps, Brother, then click on Brother Utilities.
On Windows 8 - Click on the down arrow icon on the start menu. If you don’t find on the start screen, right-click on the empty spot on your computer screen, click on All Apps from the bar, and click on Brother Utilities.
You need to select Scan.
Click on the ControlCenter4.

Note - For the Brother Utilities unsupported models, you need to click on the start button, All Programs, enter your printer model name, Click on ControlCenter4.

Now on a device settings window

Click on the Device Settings tab, then on Device scan settings in both the home mode and Advanced mode.
On the device Scan settings window, click on the File tab, select PDF as a File type, type a file name and select the location to save your file, and click on Ok.
Now go to Step Two.

For Mac, step one will remain the same

From the finder bar, click on Go, Applications, Brother, ControlCenter, then double click the ControlCenter.

The icon will get placed in the Dock.

You need to click on file holding the control key on your keyboard.
Click on the Device button tab, Name your file, select the file type as PDF, and browse a location to save your file.
Click on Ok to save the change.

Step two will remain the same for both the operating systems.

Step two - Scan and save PDF documents using a scan key on your Brother printer MFC-L2700DW.

You need to load your document.
Press on the scan button.
To select the Scan to PC, press the up and down arrow, and then press ok.
To select the file, press the up and down arrow, and then press ok.
You need to select the computer where you want to save and press on OK.
Press the up and down key to change the scan setting, select Yes, and then press Ok, or if you want to use the default scan settings, press the up and down key and select No, and then press Ok.
Press start, your machine will start scanning.

You select the scan settings you would like to change - Scan type, resolution, file type, scan size, remove the background color.
