How to balance Online Marketing and Traditional Channels

by Gaurav Gupta Digital Marketing

We are so used to doing everything online that we sometimes forget about traditional marketing tools. Although it is clear that a large part of the marketing budget will be spent on social media ads, e-mailing campaigns and other publicity spendings online, not using traditional channels at all is a mistake. Here is a look at some of the ones that can bring in a big return if used correctly.

Newspaper Print

If your business is focused on the local market, you will certainly publicize it on Google local ads. Placing you on a Google map is certainly a great way to get customers to your store. However, you can also reach them through other marketing tools, including newspaper print. The fact is that your company is far from being alone online. And so, even if you advertise there, you may find yourself drowned under the competition. By using a unique retro-tool, such as newspaper, you will provide a service to citizens, while informing them on your existence and how you can help them with your products and services.

The key will be content and distribution. If all that readers find in your newspaper is advertising, they will open it and put it back on the shelf where it laid before, immediately. Or worse, it will find its way in the trash. However, if you provide good content around the theme that your company focuses on, readers will enjoy turning its pages over a cup of coffee, or while they eat their lunch at the restaurant. That is where you need to drop your newspapers: Where people sit down to take a break.

Promotional Objects

If there is one marketing tool that can bring you daily visibility online, it has to be social media. If you create great content, and launch new products and services regularly, you are bound to have many followers. You can then continuously talk to them and offer them new buying opportunities. In the real world, there is a tool that can also provide that kind of visibility, but in a more subtle way, which are promotional items. If you choose the right item, it can be around your customers all day long. It is proven that advertising works in a way that the more you see a brand's logo, the more your trust in the company grows. Imagine someone seeing it every day of their lives.

The trick here will be to offer something that they will use. Therefore, the quality must be good, or else customers won't keep them. It also has to have some kind of aesthetic qualities. Something that hurts your eyes won't remain on a desk for very long. Some things are always needed. For example, we have to drink, so a mug or a glass can work well. Most of us use a computer daily, so any parts with your logo on it could do the job. A mobile-phone protection can be a great idea, but it will need to showcase a unique feature, otherwise people will keep the one that they already have.
