Why we do not want the third period of Kapil Sharma's Comedy Nights
Ø The Kapil Sharma Show has been renewed for another year. Will this be a second-year-old lewd, slapstick humor? Another year of old wine in a bottle? Or will Kapil Sharma attempt to reinvent himself and his image?
Ø When Comedy Nights with Kapil Sharma premiered in June of 2013 on Colours, it was hailed as a game changer for Hindi television, a breath of fresh air to get an entertainment platform which has been gagging with sterile saas-bahu soaps.
Ø To have a comic stand on point with an ensemble of different comedians/comediennes in the front of a live audience was, by Indian standards, breaking fresh ground. Viewers tired of this reign of weepy soap operas and naagins (Indian television's present supernatural fascination) see a reason to come back to their TV sets.
Ø There are reports that he has substituted Navjot Singh Sidhu with Archana Puran Singh as the judge on the series. It so happened that Sidhu took leave of a few days in the shooting of the series as a result of his health. He informed Kapil about his unavailability
Ø Meanwhile the promoters of a big budget Bollywood film asked the Group of The Kapil Sharma Show to take with them. The group decided to really go to it, but Sidhu had been unavailable. Finally, they roped in Archana Purana Singh to step into Sidhu's sneakers.

v It was a surprising move within Kapil because this was not the first time that he had been dealing with Sidhu's absence from the series. In an earlier episode, he'd placed Sidhu's cut-out on his chair and refrained from calling anyone else in his position. Recently, Sunil Grover has given hints that he might go back to The Kapil Sharma Show. Nothing has been finalized yet. Similarly, Ali Asgar has moved on to perform in different areas of the country.
In a situation like this, getting Sidhu angry will be the last thing on Kapil Sharma's schedule.
Development started in December 2015, when Sharma declared his plans to make a new series to get a Hindi general-entertainment station apart from Colors TV. It has received positive comments from audiences, gaining high TRPs in the nonfiction class.
