Apart from this, drinking alcohol in excessively gives rise to much other serious health risks such as high blood pressure, insulin resistance, heart disease, stroke, liver disease, and some cancers. Drinking a moderate amount of alcohol does not really come in the way of losing weight but regular consumption or large portion does. Alcohol is higher in calories than we realize. It contains seven calories per gram compared to carbohydrates and proteins that has four calories and fat has nine. It is also important to consider what you drink, how much you drink, how often you drink, what you eat when you drink and your overall body and lifestyle.

If you do not want to be a teetotaler, then try out these easy techniques towards drinking alcohol for the rest of your life.

  • Start to make a note of your drinks on your phone to see how much and how often you drink.

  • Know what to drink and switch to light beer or reduced alcohol wine not more than one in a day.

  • Do not drink on an empty stomach. Drinking on a full stomach slows the absorption of alcohol.

  • Fix a day and drink on that particular day itself. Do not drink alone or when stressed or depressed, otherwise you will end up drinking a very large portion.

  • Opt for non-alcoholic drinks to quench your thirst. There are many refreshing options available to quench your thirst that you will surely like.

  • Avoid salty accompaniments such as potato chips or salted cashews or peanuts. Salt makes you feel thirsty and you will end up drinking alcohol very fast.

  • Drink slowly and put down the glass after every mouthful.

Learn to say no to alcohol. Stay in shape to lead a healthy and happy life
