How Can I Get in Shape And De-Stress?

by Neighborhood Trainers Finding a trainer is a personal choice

There has long been a connection between stress and exercise. The thinking is that by doing some exercise you can reduce your stress levels. It is a little like the physics rules that says to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Someone really clever said that, but even for those of us without a degree in Newtonian Physics we get the idea.

The thing about exercise is that you turn your mind to something else. When you’re exercising you are focusing on whatever it is you are doing. Think about it, if you are bench pressing your own weight you’re not really thinking about your co-worker or that person who cut you off in traffic. You’re also pretty amazing at bench pressing too.

That’s really great for all those people who know what they are doing an have been working out for years, but, if you’re new to the world of getting in shape it can be something that can really add to your worries.

Step One: Take the stress out of getting in shape

Okay! Here’s the deal - getting in shape should be stress-free. Let’s break that vicious circle from the outset. An easy way to start getting in shape is to hand the ‘how’ over to someone who knows what they are doing. Going along to work with a Chelsea yoga instructor is one way. You can join a class which is aimed at your level. The yoga instructor will help you choose the right level, too.

Yoga has a couple of great benefits. For one, it exercises the whole muscle set, but it also ends with a calming period at the end. You can take that away with you and chill later.

Step Two: Get someone else to do the work

If yoga isn’t your thing but you’re still not sure what to do, the best Chelsea personal training can help get you into a program which is going to work for you. Personal training is all about understanding your goals and then working out a program which will work for you.

You don’t even need to take things to the micro-level – it is enough to have a general sense of what you would like to do. From “I want to be a bit more fit” to “I want to complete a triathlon”, the good news is that they can help you. And don’t worry there’s no stress.
