How can EV subsidy be availed in Delhi? - Tata Power-DDL

by Mansi L. Be happy
In a mission to speed up the shift toward electric vehicles, the Delhi Government launched the ‘Switch to Delhi’ Campaign. It is an attempt to make Delhi the EV capital of India as well as battle the environmental risks in the city. The objective behind this initiative is to encourage the citizens of Delhi to switch from conventional vehicles to electric vehicles.

The Delhi government has made an appeal to its citizens to switch to EVs and minimize their carbon footprint with zero emissions and noise pollution.

Delhi Government EV Scheme:
The Delhi Government has collaborated with DISCOMs to launch a single window facility for the setting up of private electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the capital. This plan targets domestic and semi-public destinations in the Delhi district.

Delhi Government EV Scheme is considered one of the most comprehensive electric vehicle schemes in India. The owners of eligible electric vehicles in Delhi get the benefit from both the Delhi EV policy and the FAME-Il scheme as well.

The ‘Switch Delhi’ Campaign provides extensive subsidies on the purchase of electric two-wheeler vehicles & four-wheelers alongside waiving road tax and registration charges as well. Incentives on EVs range from a maximum of 30,000 for 2 and 3-wheelers. For an electric two or three-wheeler, an individual will have to spend only ₹2,500 for a charging point to be installed after the Delhi government’s subsidy. A subsidy of ₹6,000 is being offered to the first 30,000 applicants for the installation of EV chargers. The tariff rate fixed for electricity consumed through these EV charging points is ₹4.5 per unit (Excluding Taxes).

Tata Power-DDL has impaneled 12 Vendors to facilitate the installation of slow and moderate chargers. The public authority has fixed an objective of 25 percent vehicles among complete vehicle enrolments in Delhi by 2024.

Consumers may decide to choose a new electrical connection (prepaid meter inclusive) to benefit from decreased EV tax or can go on with the current connection.

Tata Power-DDL believes in sustainable development and using the best available technologies to yield substantial positive results for our society. In commitment to this, the promotion of E-vehicles in Delhi is one of our major goals considering the growing air pollution levels in the area. The air quality in the capital city is a serious concern and vehicles are one of the major sources of air pollution. The rapid adoption of Zero Emission Electric Vehicles would be playing a huge role in improving air quality, reducing noise pollution & reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

To avail single window facility of the Delhi Government for the installation of a private electric vehicle, a consumer can visit Tata Power- DDL website EV portal or call Tata Power-DDL Sampark Kendra @19124.
