Five types of Delicious Dosas to Try at a South Indian Restaurant in the Coming Weekends

by Chris Bernard Professional Blogger
Perhaps, there is absolutely no room for argument that dosa is one of the most palatable foods in the subcontinent. This traditional, savory and mouth-watering South Indian food is a splendid blend of flavours, colours, visual appeal, and taste. You can change the ingredients and the base flour as well to come up with a myriad of derivatives.

Here is an abridged list of top five most popular dosas that you can consider eating this month.

•    Plain dosa

The simplest and most fundamental form of dosa is when it does not come with a filling. It is far from peppery, though tasty, and made from a batter of lentils, rice, and fenugreek. A plain dosa is typically rolled in the shape of a cone and enjoyed with sambar and chutneys. Note that sambar and chutneys are standard accompaniments for all kinds of dosas.

You may ask for it at a Best South Indian Thali in Victoria , or wherever you are residing at present.

•    Masala dosa

Masala dosa is essentially a plain dosa with a stuffing of mashed potatoes and boiled seasonal vegetables. It is tossed in a dollop of butter or hydrogenated oil and sprinkled with a powder of dry spices, commonly known as podi in the local lingo.

•    Paper dosa

The paper dosa is an ultra-crunchy and paper-thin form of the regular variety as is prepared without any spice fillings. It happens to be the longest version of the dosa species (!) that can happily serve more than one person. Similar to standard variety, it also comes with or without stuffing, and they are known as plain paper dosa and masala paper dosa respectively.

•    Onion dosa

The juicy and succulent onions add a sweet flavor, while the fresh green chillies lend an intensely spicy twist to the recipe. You can have a plain onion dosa or a masala onion dosa.

You may order it at an Indian Vegetarian Restaurant in Victoria, or wherever you are living presently.

•    Set dosa

Set theory revisited! This thick and spongy, soft dosa is typically served in a group of three, accompanied by tasty chutney and yummy vegetable curry, popularly known as saagu in the local dialect. It is acknowledged as one of the most balanced as well as stomach filling meals that you can enjoy at breakfast, lunch, in the evening, or at dinner time.
