Nainital is not a mountain hideaway by any means unless you decide to give the place a visit during the off-season period. And if you happen to visit Nainital during the peak months then it’s almost as if the all of the north Indian inhabitants have decided to make the tiny hill station their new home. Despite the crowd, noise, dirt you may encounter on the street of Nainital, you will fall in love with the small town in less than a day or two. The hill station is blessed with a panoply of picturesque sites and fun activities that you just cannot miss. By following the pointers given below, your trip to Nainital will be a memorable one.

Boating: This may fall under one of the clichéd Nainital activities, however, boating in the azure Naini lake never gets old, even after having repeated the activity a thousand times over. You will be charmed by the scenic views that encapsulate you and the polychrome boats that wade along with you in the calm water.

Thandi Sadak: Lying just opposite Mall Road in Nainital is the Thandi Sadak, offering a break from the sometimes overwhelming Mall Road with its cluttered stores that line the street. Thandi Sadak is peaceful and serene and houses a tranquil lake to take a walk by.

Kilbury: Pines and deodars line the Kilbury landscape and offer a view of the snow-laden peaks and clouds of birds dispersed all through the sky. A picnic under this panorama with family and friends is indelible. Don’t forget to pack some Balmithai and bun Tikki in your picnic basket.

Heritage: Visit the church of St. John Church in the Wilderness, which showcases typical Victorian architecture. The altar inside the structure is inscribed with names of the 1880 landslide victims. The Gurudwara at Flats is also a must visit. You will leave blissful, after having listened to the strains of the ShabadKirtan. The Naina Devi temple, situated just at the perimeter of a lake, with thousands of bells strung all over it is another tranquil location to visit.

Homestay: When you think of homestay in Nainital is one of the first places that come to mind. There is no deficit of restful villas in Nainital, however, choose one amidst greenery and away from the bestrewn shops in the city.

These locations must be given a thought when planning a trip. Often times, steering away from the conventional sites helps you learn much more about a place.
