Even for ASTM steel pipe, it is only one main category. However, we can divided seamless steel pipe or other pipes into lots of detailed categories according to the different material’s component. Here is our explanation for it.

Alloy ASTM steel pipe:

ASTM A333 alloy steel seamless pipe: ASTM A333 Gr.1 Gr.3 Gr.6 alloy steel pipe is for low temperature services.

ASTM A335 alloy steel seamless pipe: ASTM A335 alloy steel seamless pipe for high-temperature services.

ASTM A213 alloy steel seamless pipe: ASTM A213 Alloy Steel Boiler, Superheater, and Heat-Exchanger Pipe.

ASTM A209 alloy steel seamless pipe: ASTM A209 Seamless Carbon-Molybdenum Alloy Steel Boiler and Superheater Pipe.

ASTM A199 alloy steel seamless pipe: ASTM A199 seamless cold-drawn intermediate alloy-steel heat-exchanger and condenser tube.

Carbon ASTM steel pipe:

ASTM A178 ERW tube: ASTM A178 electric-resistance-welded carbon steel and carbon-manganese steel boiler and superheater tube.

ASTM A214 ERW tube: ASTM A214 Electric resistance welded carbon steel heat-exchanger and condenser tube.

ASTM A795 grooved sprinkler pipe for fire fighting: ASTM A795 ERW pipe with grooved ends is a kind of sprinkler pipe for fire fighting.
