9 Simple Tips for Planning a Long Scooter Ride

by Ravi Singh Rana Digital Marketer
Scooters were traditionally used to travel short distances in towns and cities and for daily commuting. However, modern scooters like yamaha aerox 155 could also be used for long-distance travel. The following are some important things to remember when going on a long ride.

1. RC Book, License and Other Information

Before embarking on a long ride, ensure that you have all of the necessary details, like a valid licence, an RC Book, health insurance, and scooter insurance.  Ensure your vehicle's pollution clearance is inspected and renewed on time. Always keep the information in the trunk of your two-wheeler or your handbag.

2. Inspect Your Scooter

The next step is to thoroughly inspect your scooter for electrical or mechanical malfunctions or complaints. Before embarking on a long ride, it is always advisable to perform a service and replace any worn or broken cables. If you are going on a long trip, you must change the engine oil because you will not be able to stop at a service station in the middle of your journey. Before the journey, check the air filter, tyre pressure, battery, and brake fluid.

3. Plan ahead of time

After analysing your ride, make a rough plan of the total distance you intend to travel and the maximum number of days you intend to spend on this trip. It will give you a general idea of your ride and allow you to easily plan your expenses and stop locations. Planning will also give you an idea of how many items you will need to carry for the ride, giving you more time to explore and do everything you desired from this ride.

4. The Puncture Kit

Most modern scooters like the yamaha aerox specification include alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. It makes it simple to repair a flat tyre. When heading on a long ride, it is always a good idea to have a Puncture kit on hand in case of an emergency. Puncture kits are extremely useful for quickly repairing a flat tyre.

5. Travel Light

You could keep things like a utility knife, raincoat, water bottle, biscuits, and some garments in your scooter itself because it has a good, roomy under-seat storage area. A backpack could be useful for safely transporting extra luggage and items like cables, cameras, and mobile phones. However, it is always a good idea to pack smart and light. When packing items, you must consider whether they will be useful or not during the journey.

6. Full-Face Helmet

A Full Face helmet is a decent choice for long rides because it protects the head from any repercussions or mishaps. Aside from face and full-head protection, another benefit of full-face helmets over half-face helmets is that they come with a double visor, which can be useful when riding at night. A full-face helmet would also safeguard you from pollution and keep your skin healthy and secure from harsh winds and dust.

7. Waterproof Riding Suit

Travelling in casual shirts and jeans is appropriate for short commutes, but for longer rides, a weatherproof riding suit is required as primary attire. Ensure that your riding suit, jacket, gloves, and boots are waterproof. Wet clothes make you cold and weak, causing your journey to take longer than expected.

8. Ride in Crunches

Scooters, unlike motorbikes, have small wheels, requiring the engine to make more turnarounds to cover longer distances. As a result, scooters have a shorter riding range than motorbikes. To overcome this limit while also preserving engine efficiency, it is best to ride with short, small brakes. Arrange the entire ride in small crunches to give you and your motorbike adequate rest.

9. Additional Gas Can

When going on long rides, it is a good idea to bring an extra gas can or a bottle. Because most modern scooters only have the highest fuel capacity of 5 to 6 litres. An additional gas could store more fuel and serve as a backup when exploring places far from petrol stations and other far and remote regions.
