The city of Jaipur is nothing different as it is a famous place present in the state of Rajasthan. Many people from throughout the world visit Jaipur to seek the majestic and luxurious vibes that still exists till date. Having a travel itinerary is very important as it lets you move in a schedule. So, we will include some of the best places in Jaipur that you should visit when you are in the city.

 

  • Jal Mahal:

 

Jal Mahal stands for water palace and it is just that. The place is situated on the Man Sagar Lake in the city of Jaipur. It has the cult Rajput architecture style which is found all over Rajasthan. The place looks spectacular when you are on the boat to reach the palace as in the backdrop you find the Aravalli hills. Jal Mahal in Jaipur is a point in Rajasthan that tourists will never want to miss. In the first glance, you can never imagine that the palace contains five stories, four among them remain underwater when the lake is full. During winter months’ tourists will also find different migratory birds residing on the lake. Tourists have to visit the palace between 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM if they want to see Jal Mahal.

 

  • Hawa Mahal:

 

This is another famous spot of Jaipur which has been photographed in several iconic ways. When you are moving through the streets of Jaipur, you can catch a glimpse of this palace. The red sandstone used in the construction calls for attention from the visitors. The palace actually contains 953 windows which were intricately carved into the sandstone. People also say that the façade of the place represents the crown worn by Lord Krishna. It was built in 1799 and still stands with all its glory. An inside thing about the palace is that women mainly used it to view processions hidden from the common men.  The palace was also utilized as a go-to summer residence by the Royal family as summers tend to be excruciatingly hot in Jaipur. To visit the palace, one needs to be present between 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

 

  • Monkey Temple:

 

When you are in Jaipur, you will find many monkeys throughout the city. Did you know that there was a temple complex dedicated to monkeys close to the city? Galtaji is the place and one doesn’t require much time to reach. The place contains Kunds that are filled with natural spring water from the hills. The location of the place is quite different as it is surrounded by the hills which makes it serene and peaceful. You can also find the monkeys swimming in one of the Kund’s and their whole family is present over there. So, it is recommended to spend some time in the temple complex appreciating its beauty in the modern age. Do not try to feed the monkeys too much as they will quickly outnumber you which may lead to accidents.

 

  • City Palace:

 

One of the most notable things about Rajasthan is the sheer number of palaces that you find in the state. City Palace is yet another palace present in Jaipur city. Currently, it does house the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum and also the members of the Royal family. An art gallery is also present there which will attract the patrons of good art. You will be amazed to see the architecture present in the palace. The gardens are also well maintained which add to the beauty of the palace. People who are ready to dish out extra money can also see the private rooms present in the palace. These days, a light and sound show is also held in the courtyard of the city palace and it is a nice activity to do in the evening.

 

  • Nahargarh Fort:

 

The Aravalli hills form an important part of the territory of Rajasthan and this particular fort was built on the edge of the hills. It forms a part of the defense ring that was utilized by the rulers of the past. The name of the fort stands for ‘the abode of tigers’. A fun fact is that this palace was the shooting spot for ‘Rang De Basanti’. From the fort, one can view spectacular sunsets along with the cityscape of Jaipur. If you want to grab a bit, then visit the Government café situated in the premises of the fort. The palace is lit up during the evening and it looks amazing. A simple taxi from the city center will take a person to the fort.
