Are Your Asset is Your Liability?

by Gautam Jain Consultant

Ramesh works in a BPO company and he works till late night. As we know, BPO Company operates in many shifts in a day. So, Ramesh got chances often to meet every shift incharge of the company. He is a very laborious person and do his work sincerely, he also help others in their work a lot. Due to this characteristic of his, he has become popular among company?s employees.

Even company?s senior person was giving him extra responsibility for his appreciable work and he also stay in the company till late hour. In nut shell, he has contributed his effort in each part of the company. But one day, he resigned from the company and everyone was got shocked by his act. The reason behind his resignation was that he got another offer form a company and 100 % hike in his salary also. Due to this act of his company?s senior persons was like wake up from sleep. Then they start lobbing him and offering him various hikes to retain him in the company. In that case, Ramesh got confused and ask an expert advice.

Expert asked him two questions, why he was changing his job for money? And second question, what else he is looking in a job, a better respect? He answered both questions in positive manner and his confusion got resolved. He joined new company not only for money but also for better respect which he has sure that he would get a new image in the new company.

Moral of the story for HR (Human Resource) managers is to check always your employees? involvement that in which thing they are spending their time. First, are they just checking mails, twitter, or other social networking sites? Second, are they wasting their time in gossips and doing nothing? Third, if they are working hard then please raise their salary or provide other benefits to them time to time. Thus, you are not only able to retain them but also better productivity would come out. People are main assets of any successful company; we should take care of this asset.

@ Puala, you are right but in Organizational Behavior Dynamics, there are two kind of employees. One is satisfied and other one is Motivated. Satisfied employee is not necessary to be productive but motivated employee surely a productive member.
