Although previous rumors claimed Xiaomi Mi5 could be launched on October 19, the information has been denied by the company's co-founder Lin Bin.

Xiaomi
has already teased a special event for October 19, but did not share
any details on what's to come. Instead, the Chinese company stated that
it would unveil a "Next Generation" device whatever that could mean.
Based
on the teaser many thought that Xiaomi could launch the Mi5 next week
or at least another device like a laptop, smartwatch, monitor, or
notebook.
According to a
new report, Lei Jun, Xiaomi's co-founder, posted a cryptic message on
Weibo, in which he says that the "Next Generation" of technology and
science hasn't been used much in the smartphone industry, like in the
next-generation gaming consoles, processor and so on.
That
raises the question whether or not Xiaomi plans to enter the gaming
industry with the video game or game-related device. We don't rule out a
Mi-series of gaming products, as unlikely as it might seem at first
glance.
Since we're so
close to the official unveiling of Xiaomi's "Next Generation" device, we
expect more details to emerge on the company's mysterious Xiaomi Device in the next few days.
