Winter Care Guide for Newborns

by Sonia Singh Hi Everyone, I am Sonia. I love to read and write

Taking care of a newborn can be challenging. No matter the season, newborns require a lot of special care and support. But with winters coming up, your baby needs extra protection from the harsh winter cold. As a mother, you must be prepared to keep your little munchkin’s skin warm, moisturized, and healthy. Make sure that you have paediatricians available nearby in case of any emergencies or even some basic kits like a thermometer or homemade saline solution in case of blocked nose. Newborns are delicate and can easily become the target for viruses and bacteria especially during winters. So, here’s how you can keep your baby safe during the winter.

Dress your baby comfortably

Dressing up your baby for the winter is the first thing to keep them warm. Layer them up in comfortable clothes but make sure that it’s breathable enough for the baby. Always make them wear socks and mittens as it’s easier to catch a cold when the feet are uncovered. Don't use heavy blankets that can keep them from moving their hands freely, compelling them to pull the cover over their face which can increase the risk of SIDS.

Moisturize your baby

Winters can take away the moisture and make your baby’s skin dry. So make sure your baby is well moisturized during the cold winter. Although using products on your new-born baby can make you feel sceptical, you can always go for certified organic baby body lotions which are safe for your baby’s delicate skin and also keeps them from getting their skin dry.

Avoid too many products

Your baby also needs cleaning and bathing even though it is winter. Therefore stick to organic products like the best made with organic baby wipes from goodness.me. They have various organic baby products from wipes to lotion and massage oils as well. Your baby needs the utmost care and using the right product and massage can help them through the winter.

Keep up with the vaccination

Not just food and warm clothes but your baby also has to be strong within to go through the cold weather. Therefore, get your baby vaccinated to protect him/her from any infections or viruses during winter. Getting your child vaccinated will also help your baby stay healthy in the future. Always confirm the next date for the vaccine and stay updated.

Both the mother and new-born babies need fresh air and care, so the parents need to maintain their hygiene at the same time. New-born babies are delicate and if you don’t take the right precautions, they can get sick as their immune system is still at a developmental stage. Therefore, take the best care of your baby and help them stay protected during this cold winter.
