Why You Should Not Invest in Digital Marketing

by Ben Goodman ***
Nowadays, if your brand isn’t online, there’s a chance it won’t thrive. This is especially if your competition is getting bigger at a faster pace. And this goes for everything—social media marketing, email marketing, link building, lead generation, SEO—you name it.

The reality is that digital marketing in the Philippines isn’t new. Of course, it’s one thing to own social media accounts and boost your posts on Facebook. But maintaining the work and generating results needs to become second nature for your business if you want to get results.

Digital marketing isn’t easy. In fact, not only is it challenging to earn revenue and conversions, it can get quite expensive and take up a lot of your time. Does it really seem worth it? Here are reasons not to invest in digital marketing.

Rules

1. Don’t Invest in PPC if You Don’t Want Traffic on Your Website.

PPC, if you’re not aware of it, stands for pay-per-click. It’s a form of marketing where marketers pay every time someone clicks on their ads. PPC campaigns usually cost more on Google AdWords when their ranks are low. The ranks are determined by Google’s algorithm--which no one is sure about how it works--and your own campaign strategy, including keyword relevance, landing page quality, and quality score.

It sounds like a risk, but it brings results when you play your cards right. Don’t worry, you can always ask a digital marketing agency to help you with that. But hey, if you hate getting more exposure and traffic on your website, don’t do it.

2. Don’t Use Email Marketing if You Don’t Want Conversions.

Some people say email is dead because of instant messaging, but that just proves they don’t know how to use it. Email marketing is one of the most effective ways of acquiring customers and promises more results than social media. Social media can lead the audience on, but when it comes to converting them into customers, email marketing is the way to go.

Emails, unlike some ad forms, appear to your target audience without necessarily being intrusive. It’s also an avenue for you to introduce your brand’s personality and keep your audience interested. So if you’re not interested in conversions and formality, don’t use email marketing.

3. Don’t Advertise on Facebook if You Don’t Want to Generate Leads.

Let’s be real, Facebook is a game changer in the realm of digital marketing. With two billion users, your target market can be shaped through their’ demographics, location, interests, and behaviors (like purchases and preferences).

The advanced tools Facebook provides for advertisers is groundbreaking, and promises actual results in a short span of time. In 2018, advertisers have no other option but to pay for ads to appear on the News Feed after Mark Zuckerberg announced the algorithm change.

If you’re not into paying for your ads to give you a high return on investment, Facebook advertising is not for you.

4. Don’t Bother With SEO if You Don’t Want Brand Exposure.

If you’re the owner of a small business and you want people to reach out to your brand on your website without thinking of the benefits of SEO, you need to rethink your priorities.

A thoroughly planned SEO campaign can help your ranks rise on search engines. And why does this matter, exactly? Suppose your company does have a website. The chances of that website being seen on the first page of Google are slim to none if you don’t have an SEO strategy. Remember, there are five billion searches on Google every day. So if you want your website to remain in the shadows, don’t try SEO.

An up-and-coming local business won’t thrive without any efforts in digital marketing. We’re living in the future where everything is moving online, and your business shouldn’t get left behind. If you want your business to wither, don’t invest on digital marketing in the Philippines. Of course, if you change your mind, a digital marketing agency can always help you with your campaigns.
