Voter ID card is among the many identity proof documents that the government provide to their citizen.  It is issued by the Election Commission of India only to those who are 18 years of age or above. We need to fill few forms and after the verification voter ID card is issued. The voter’s ID allows a citizen to participate in elections. However, the name of the voter must also be included in the registered voters list before a person can actually cast a vote. If you have lost your voter card then you will have to apply for duplicate voter ID card that will help you to get a new one.

People every time talk of corruption and corrupt politicians. But no one wants to make any effort to change it. Vote is the most powerful weapon that the citizen of any country possesses. But not everyone seems to be aware of this fact. Even if they know, they don’t bother much. They just choose to ignore the atrocities that are happening in front of their eyes. People must know that they could change governments if it’s undermining the interest of the people that it was supposed to serve, by casting votes against it. Government should be afraid of people it should not be the case where the people are afraid of government.

With the help of a voter id card you can also track passport application status and apply for the same as well. However, all this is not possible if a person is not interested in casting votes. It is totally in people’s favour to have a higher percentage of voter turnouts in all the elections. For this to happen, it is a responsibility of an individual, to get the voter ID card issued after attaining the age of 18, so that they could participate in elections. Government of India has also started online registration to increase the participation of people in election process.

The voter ID cards not only empowers us to vote, but it also serves as a document for identity proof. It is valid throughout the country as it guarantees that the person is having a permanent citizenship. However, a person cannot cast vote anywhere in India. The name of the person must be included in the electoral roll. The voter ID card only validates him as an eligible voter. Voter id is a kind of ID card like aadhar card status that can be used for id proof.

Loss or theft of voter ID card must be taken seriously. You should immediately inform your electoral office about the incident and apply for reissuing the same. Identity theft cases are on an increase these days. So identity proof documents such as voter ID card must be kept safe and never let others to misuse it.
