In India, Post office provides insurance to its customers. Customers can order their articles for the parcel or transport of them from the Post offices in a well mannered way and on time so that the customer is satisfied with the services provided by the Post office. Further, the insurance of many of the articles are provided by the Post office. The insurance provided covers the transmission of the articles with whole guarantee. Articles which can be insured through the Post office are the registered letters and parcels and those letters and parcels which are registered as well as value payable. The value of money in the registered letters can vary from INR 10 to INR 1 lac depending on the branch of the Post office. Also the parcels of valuable articles containing gold, silver and other valuable articles are made and parceled to the destined place. Post office do also offer speed post tracking part from other postal services.

 

When the recovery amount on the valuable article exceeds INR 100 then the insurance becomes necessary to be done by the customer. Other valuable articles will include any kind of government articles, receipts, important papers etc. As mentioned above coins of gold, silver, jewelry, precious stones are also important to be insured before ordering for parcel. Now, Insurance in the Post offices in India has got a procedure to be followed by every branch of Indian Post office. You must have an ID card like Aadhar Card Status or Pan Card that will avail you to get Post office services.

Firstly, one must present the article to be insured at the windows of the Post offices. Then write the insured value clearly above the address written and never erase or make correction on the value written as this may incur problem in the process. Write the address and other required contact details on the left hand side down corner on the packed parcel. Then submit the article. In case, if you find any kind of damage then let the official know immediately as later the Post office will not be responsible for the loss. Finally, take a receipt as a proof of the insured parcel.
