Why You Don’t Need A “Diet” Plan

by EDDIE JONES ONLINE COACHING & PERSONAL TRAINING

“I just need to be told what to eat and I’ll be fine!”

One of the most frequent questions I’m asked as a personal trainer is this,

“Do you do meal plans Eddie?”

No. No I don’t do meal plans.

“Why?”

Because, well… they suck and they’re a waste of your hard earned money.

Being told to eat this EXACT thing, in this EXACT amount, at this EXACT time is the kinda control that no one needs in their life.

And I promise you, being handed a rigidly prescribed eating plan WILL NOT provide you with the long term results you’re after.
Regardless of how enthusiastic you are, life will get in the way.

– You’ll get sick
– The kids will get sick
– Holidays happen
– Birthdays come up
– You’ve gotta work late

And sooner or later,

– You’re willingness to eat a chicken breast at 10 am in the morning, will diminish.

Because real people (you and I) don’t eat nutrients, we eat food.

We eat burgers, salads, pastas, pizzas and sandwiches with friends, family and co-workers when the time suits…

Not 200 grams of chicken breast, 3 grams of olive oil and a cup of steamed broccoli at 5pm because our meal plan told us so.

If you’re looking to improve your diet, you don’t need to get weird about it.

Instead, here’s what I suggest you do;

– Discover what you’re currently eating
– Start to make small, and sustainable, healthy changes to it

If you’re eating no breakfast at all, and then over indulging come 10 am – start by eating breakfast and notice the difference it makes.

If you’re lunch contains chips and an energy drink – swap them for a baked potato and a water to cut your calories dramatically.

If dinners a microwave meal and a bottle of wine – try cooking something simple from fresh and have just a glass of wine.

None of this is about shooting for perfection, it’s simply about continual improvement which works with your real, everyday life.

And it’s the exact same approach I take with my clients to help them lose inches, drop dress sizes and get confident with life again.

Improve your food habits and you will improve your body composition.

Not just for the short term, but for long term life changing results.

Because every lb you lose, should be a lb you never gain again right?
