Why Ramos Again and Again
We all are well aware of the capabilities of Sergio
Ramos, he is simply an amazing player but what makes him more valuable is his
ability to score goals in the last minutes of the match. We see that once or
twice in a year but Ramos has made a habit of scoring goals in the last minute
of the fixtures. We saw that against Atletico couple of years ago and now it is
in the biggest of them all El Classico. The biggest Spanish rivalry in Europe,
between the two giants of Europe, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
One side has players like Messi, Suarez, Iniesta,
Neymar, and the other side has players like Bale, Benzema, Ronaldo and Modric,
but even in the presence of world class players who can change the match
whenever they want Ramos is always there to rescue them. What is more pleasant than
scoring against your arch rivals, yes the best feeling in the world. Not even a
single seat free in the arena millions watching in the home and you just come
to rescue and equalize in the home ground of Barca and roast them in silence. The
game started up in its true spirit with all of the big names and faces in the
middle trying to warm up and laying down what they planned so much ahead of
time, only the execution was left. It’s fascinating how every team just plans
the game with their alternatives and steps into the field; it’s even more
amazing that people turn out in those games just to see those game plans. The
Spanish La Liga game was not just another game for the night as Camp Nou in
Barcelona was all jam packed for it. The game progressed just like it should
have with both of the teams fighting to keep the ball procession and their
different shots on targets. In the 53rd minute, however, Barca was
successful in making the breach into the Madrid defense. Neymar's left-wing
free-kick was perfectly placed and was on target, the ball landed for a
perfectly placed glancing header of Luis Suarez, into the nets.
This deflection put Barcelona on top of Real Madrid
and they were ahead of the game. But that was not it, right after the goal the
Barca, rather getting defensive, carried on with the attacks and tried to put
more shots between Madrid’s pole but none of them were successful. Right after
the conceded goal Real Madrid players were seen to be relaxed but the tension
arose when game entered the final 10 minutes. But as we know the Los Blancos
and their comebacks in the crucial games, they once again proved why they like
the last minute shockers. In a fanatic ending Luka Modric’s free kick this time
went above all heads and found the Captain Sergio Ramos under it, who didn’t
make a single mistake and headed the ball to earn a point for Zinedine Zidane's
La Liga leaders. The game ended as a 1-1 with 3 minutes added as the stoppage-time.
And this equaliser by Ramos in the same time has extended the unbeaten streak
of Real Madrid in the season. The leaders are 6 points ahead of the defending
champions Barcelona FC after 14 matches. Ramos has scored 4 goals this season
and these are more than any other La Liga defender.
So now again Madrid is ahead of Barca but we all know
that money can’t buy success and Barca is full of class so yes, they have
capabilities of switching the table whenever they want.
