Why Do You Buy Air Source Heat Pump for Cold Climate?

by Arctic Heatpumps Arctic Heat Pumps

Arctic series air source heat pump stands out unparalleled without many sacrifices to quality. The industry leading parts are mandated in the design. This air source heat pump package comes with German Wilo Pumps, European Sanhua Valves, Mitsubishi EVI DC inverter compressor, and Chico digital control system. All this is harnessed directly into the complete weather proof housing.

Integrated Heating Alternative
Unlike other cold climate heat pump systems, the Arctic air source heat pump can control your entire heating and cooling requirements of home including domestic hot water. The heat pump integrates with different heating sources like radiant floor heating or cooling, central air handlers for forced air etc.

In addition to, the Arctic series heat pumps feature split fan coils for individual room heating, low temperature radiators. They can integrate to any hot tub or pool to deliver full heat through titanium heat exchangers. The Out Door Unit (ODR) comprises of everything you need in one case – monobolic.

This means, there is no need to hire a refrigeration mechanic. All you will need is an electrical connection with an outdoor rated disconnect – weather proof. This heat pump system needs 240 VAC connection with a 20, 30, 40 amp dedicated breaker depending on the size of the heat pump.

Built in Back up Facility
The backup heating circuit present in the buffer tank of the heat tank can be controlled automatically from the heat pump. It makes the integration process with an internal heater effective and simple.

The cold weather heat pump will give the signal to the backup heater when the heat pump can be unable to keep up. This makes sure that you are never wasting energy with two heat sources.

A standard electric hot water tank can be used or you can buy water tanks designed specifically for cold weather heat pumps. They include additional features like extra insulation and internal ports for the temperature probe for more precise temperature readings.

Expandability
Rather than production into five or six sizes, the heat pump technology allows to combine heat pumps together to form larger heating systems as needed. With the MX controller, you can add up to five heat pumps. The pumping technology works the same. If your system is so large for the pump capacity, simply include a second pump in series in order to double up flow pressure.

User friendly controller
Other cold climate heat pumps need direct communication to every zone. But the Arctic series air source heat pump uses simple differential controller logic with a tank thermometer probe.

Their tanks have a special cooper probe port inserted both at the top and bottom for the accurate measurement of the tank. When the weather changes, the heat pump will change and use exactly what it needs to keep the buffer tank at the set temperature.

How does cold climate heat pump work?

The factory designed Arctic air source cold climate heat pump has controller system that can manage two zones and unlimited zones with addition of the MX controller. The heat pump system can be used for space heating, cooling, and for both space heating and cooling purposes.

If they have already set up heating and cooling, the heat pump will control both the circulation and a three way zone valve. Utilizing the tank temperature sensors and an air temperature sensor built into the controller, a heat pump will switch on and set the default to the priority zone. It can be either buffer tank for heating or the air temperature sensor for cooling until it reaches the set temperature.

If cooling is the main priority, the system will cool the room to the set point temperature. Then the three way valve will redirect to the buffer heating zone tank. The heat pump will switch to heating to fulfill its energy requirements of the buffer tank that offers heat to zones like domestic hot water, space heating and pool or hot tubs. If the cooling zone needs cooling again, the three way valve will switch to the cooling zones and the heat pump will work reversely and offer cooling.
