Why Companies Fail? Common Management Mistakes
Most of the time, good employees leave not because of the “greener pasture”, but to save self-respect. Misunderstandings are unavoidable and part of the corporate world, whether you are in a traditional office setup or in a virtual office setup. No fast internet connection nor open lines of communication is enough when you’re trying to reach close minded people.
Employees do not leave their bosses, they leave their managers. Failure to have a solid “management” can cost you your company.
Check these common issues:
Superiority Complex
Having a superior or manager with this kind of attitude is very disappointing. It’s okay to impose your position but make sure you walk the talk. Humility is something that is very hard to develop. Once you are in the position, you get blinded by your power. Sad but this is reality. And this often leads to conflict. As we all know, companies, especially small ones, have limited employees that once one unexpectedly leave, it’ll cripple the entire process.
Leniency
It’s okay to be lenient, but make sure to maintain the discipline. Some take advantage of this, and act as if no such rules exist. Keep this in mind, with or without rules, a professional knows the meaning of work ethics. If you can’t follow basic common rules, then you mustn’t be part of a company. Go and run your own business.
Lack of Focus
When you’re at the workplace, give your 100% dedication and energy to your assigned position. Again, it’s okay to have fun to eliminate boredom, but make sure that you have finished your tasks first before you do other things. Never make it a habit to use company’s resources for personal benefit. Reading and doing unnecessary stuff the entire day is not healthy for your mind as well. Reserve your imagination/illusion after work. You have plenty of time after 8-9 hours of work in the office.
