What is a "No-Brainer"?
It's a No-Brainer
Obviously the person using the phrase is simply trying to convey that it doesn't take a lot of time to "think it through" before acting on it but it is still one of my all time most disliked phrases. Why? Because the use of it assumes a couple of things that offend me. The first is that I would have to be stupid to pass up this “wonderful” opportunity. The second is that it doesn’t take any brains (knowledge) to make the system work. The third is that it should be acted on quickly, impulsively.
I take issue with all three assumptions. I am not stupid, and neither are the other people who see these posts, ads, banners, texts, capture pages, etc…. There are a myriad of reasons that a person might pass on an opportunity, and not all of them have to do with the fact they don’t believe it to be true. Sometimes the plate is just too full to pile something else on top. Sometimes the advertiser really hasn’t sold his/her product. They have nothing but sizzle but savvy, experienced marketers need to know a little something about the steak as well before they jump.
Network marketing requires knowledge and skill to succeed. No system really runs on auto-pilot. They system itself may be simple but driving traffic and converting prospects into partners is still a full time occupation in and of itself. There are no successful businesses that can be run by someone with No-Brains, that is, someone who doesn’t have the knowledge and skill to run the business properly.
Never, ever, ever, ever start a new enterprise on impulse. Get your hands off your wallet, breath deeply and examine the offer. Examine if from every direction. Why is the person so eager to get you to sign up without doing you due diligence first? Are they just inexperienced and excited about what they are offering or are they very experienced and relying on getting you emotionally involved in their proposition to the point that you won't ask questions?
So next time you are about ready to toss this phrase around, stop and think about what it might mean to your readers or listeners.
Next time you SEE this phrase, take it as a caution sign to look deeper.

This article has really caused me to reexamine my use of the phrase "this is really a no brainer"! "Due diligence" is necessary before joining any Biz-Op or program. Thanks for reminding us, Gerry.
