What causes anxiety, and which therapy is best to manage?

We all have anxiety at some point in life. But it was seen that people are often unable to differentiate between normal anxiety and medical anxiety, due to which they face difficulties and become victims of mental diseases. Anxiety disorders are different from normal anxiety. That is why it is very important to know about Mental Anxiety Disorders.

  • Panic Disorder - Feeling of nervousness all the time and feeling of a sudden increase in heart rate is a symptom of mental panic disorder.
  • Generalized anxiety disorder
  • Phobic disorders
  • Stress disorders

Life events that can cause anxiety:

  • Stress at work
  • Stress from school
  • Tension in personal relationships such as marriage
  • Financial stress
  • Stress from global events or political issues
  • Stress from unexpected or uncertain world events, like a pandemic
  • Stress from emotional trauma such as the death of a loved one
  • Stress from a serious medical illness

Therapy by which you can manage Anxiety -

Generally, therapists use two types of therapy to relieve anxiety.

  1. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)
  2. Exposure therapy


Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT): This is the most widely used therapy for anxiety disorders. Research has found that this therapy is effective in treating many other conditions including phobias, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder, among others.


Exposure therapy - For whatever reason you have anxiety, avoiding doing that work is called exposure therapy. In this, you learn how to get away from the causes of anxiety.
