Ways To Make Your Vegan Travels More Immersive

by Vegan Culinary Cruises Luxury – All Inclusive – All Vegan
Nowadays, traveling as a vegan isn’t as challenging as it once was. More and more establishments around the world now cater to the vegan palette.

But that isn’t to say that there aren’t any difficulties anymore. There will always be some hurdles along the way. Sometimes, a restaurant that promotes themselves as vegan-friendly actually isn’t. Don’t let those little problems get in the way of your vegan travel experience though. These are a few simple ways to help you have a great gastronomic time -- and be more immersed in the local culture.

Learn Some Of The Language

Before heading to another country,  it helps to learn some words and phrases in the local language. This isn’t just limited to “hellos”, “thank yous”, and how to ask for directions. You’ll want to familiarize yourself with ones that will help the locals understand that you are vegan and have dietary restrictions.

Not only will you help avoid any misunderstanding, but it’s a sign of respect as well—you did make an effort to speak in their language, after all.

Go For Local Fare and Flavor

Not many activities are as immersive as enjoying the local food. Has there been hearsay that this or that certain country is more inclined towards meat or use plenty of eggs and dairy? Don’t let that get you down. Why not do some research on your own first? Surely not all of their dishes aren’t suited for vegan consumption. Sometimes what we think isn’t vegan-friendly may actually be vegan after all, and that’s all because we judge too quickly on their appearance or don’t understand the locals.

Even just a few hours on studying online before your trip will help you discover their vegan and vegetarian dishes and make your stay so much easier—and more delicious.

Find A Farmer’s Market

Fond of cooking for yourself or know a handful of easy vegan or vegetarian recipes?  You might find it better for you to head to the local farmer’s market instead of the grocery store. The selection they have are the freshest you’ll find in town, plus you’ll have a much wider variety to choose from than if you decided to stick to the supermarket. The prices are cheaper as well. This method helps you support the locals in a more direct way. This is also an excellent opportunity for you to explore the locale and immerse yourself in the culture.

A Few More Tips Before You Go

In truth, it doesn’t take a lot of effort to have a great vegan experience while traveling today. Aside from these tips above, you can also:

Ask for tips from seasoned vegan travelers—they may know more food places that you can’t find online
Let your accommodations know that you’re vegan so that they can cater better to you
Join online vegan groups and talk to the local vegans there

And while you’re always free to bring some vegan snacks of your own, at least now you won’t have to keep subsisting on them for the rest of your trip.

Now go out and have a fun journey!
