Touching The Sky At Baby Scan Clinic Reading

by Phoebe Warts Sonographers
Pregnancy is also known as gestation during which offspring develops within the body of the mother. A pregnancy may end in a live birth, missed abortion, or stillbirth. The birth of the child occurs about forty weeks from the last menstrual period. After fertilization for the first eight weeks, the baby is known as an embryo and after that, it is known as a fetus. Symptoms of pregnancy are missed periods, tender breasts, morning sickness, frequent urination, and nausea. Symptoms occur due to changes in the mother’s body due to pregnancy. Pregnancy is divided into three trimesters. Miscarriages may occur during the first trimester and the movement is felt during the second trimester. Prenatal care is very important for pregnancy. Prenatal care is going to the doctor regularly, taking prenatal vitamins, taking folic acid regularly, and stopping the intake of alcohol, drugs and, smoking. It helps to improve fetal health and identify any complexity associated with pregnancy.

Complications of pregnancy are high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, and severe nausea. Hypertension during pregnancy occurs due to preeclampsia. This occurs after twenty weeks of pregnancy, causing damage to other organs like the liver and kidney. Preeclampsia occurs due to problems in the walls of the blood vessels that connect the placenta to the uterus. The placenta is that organ that carries oxygen to the baby. Gestational diabetes occurs when the glucose builds up in the blood due to insulin rejection in the body of the mother. The pancreas releases insulin due to an increase in the blood glucose level but the body begins to reject the insulin manufactured in the body resulting in hyperglycemia. Iron deficiency anemia occurs due to a deficiency of iron in the body. This leads to a decrease in hemoglobin or the number of red blood cells. This results in fatigue, tiredness, shortness of breath, and inability to exercise.

We at the Ultrasound Baby Scanning Services Reading conduct five types of scans.

  • The first scan is done in the second month of pregnancy, as early as six weeks. The location and the number of pregnancies can be determined from this scan. If the pregnancy is ectopic and develops outside the uterus then it has to be removed. The number of pregnancies if multiple can also be found out from the first routine scan of pregnancy.
  • The second scan is done between sixteen to twenty-one weeks. This scan is also known as the mid-pregnancy scan. The gender of the baby is determined from this scan. The position of the baby and the placenta can be easily determined. The NT scan or the scan determining the chromosomal abnormality in the baby is done around twenty weeks of pregnancy. The fluid at the back of the neck is tested.
  • The next scan is done at the twenty-four weeks of pregnancy where the circulatory systems are developed and the blood circulatory systems along with the urinary system start functioning.
  • The 4 D scan done at 4D Baby Scan Clinic Reading is the specialty of the clinic. The scan reveals 3 D pictures of the baby moving in the fourth dimension of time.
  • The last scan is conducted between twenty-six weeks and forty-two weeks of pregnancy. The size and the measurement of the baby are determined from the scan. This scan is known as a growth or developmental scan which is done to monitor the development or growth of the baby.
