Top 3 Most Frequent Cancer in Women
by Akash Sharma Akash SharmaIn 2018, eighteen million cancer
cases were on the record worldwide, and among these cases, 8.5 million were
female. With the increasing global burden, cancer prevention has become one of
the most vital health challenges of the twenty-first century. According to Dr.
Siddharth Sahni, it is significant to pay attention to your body
for any abnormal changes. However, you don't have to worry if you pay heed and
beware of the common cancers in women. If you know what to look for, then
two-thirds of these common cancers are preventable.
Breast Cancer
In America, breast cancer is the
most frequent cancer besides skin cancer. Though as you grow older, the danger
increases, it can happen at any age. Some women have a greater risk than
others. However, every woman should know about the symptoms of breast cancer
and what they should do to prevent it.
Symptoms of breast cancer are,
● Any change in the shape or size
of the nipple or the breast should make you cautious.
● You should be aware of any lump
in the armpit and breast.
● If your nipples turn inward or
you have a sore nipple and breast, you should be careful.
● Nipples discharge should make
you visit your doctor immediately.
The precautions you can take
include being prudent if you have a medical history in the family. If you are
diagnosed at an early stage, you have a better chance of conquering cancer. If
you are over the age of forty, then you should do an annual screening for
breast cancer with mammograms. Every woman should be aware of the shape of
their breasts, and if any change occurs, they should immediately contact their
doctors.
Cervical Cancer
The vital risk factor for
cervical cancer is chronic infection through certain kinds of HPV or human
papillomavirus. Skin-to-skin contact can give you the virus, like oral,
vaginal, or anal sex with anyone who has the virus. You can also get the virus
for having a weakened immune system, smoking, obesity, taking specific hormone
treatments, etc.
At the initial stage of cancer,
there are no symptoms. The symptoms of this cancer as it grows are,
● Enduring pain while having sex.
● Abnormal bleeding in the vagina
after menopause, between the menstrual cycle and during sex is another symptom.
● Vaginal discharge.
To prevent cervical cancer, you
should use protection during sex. Smoking, having multiple sexual partners,
many children, using oral contraceptive medicines can increase the risk of
cancer.
Ovarian Cancer
As women grow old, the chances
of ovarian cancer increase. Women who are without a child or who have children
after thirty can have ovarian cancer. A family history of ovarian cancer,
breast cancer, and HNPCC bring a greater risk of ovarian cancer than others.
The symptoms are,
● Pelvic pain
● Digestive problem
● Feeling of urinating all the
time
● Abdominal swelling
If these symptoms are occurring
for more than a week, then you should contact your doctor. A routine check-up
is crucial to prevent cancer. If you have a family history of cancer, you
should start doing some tests as per your doctor's instructions.
