Standoffs are designed to install signs on different types of wall surfaces. Not only do they ensure secure placement of a sign over the wall, but also add attractiveness to the displays of different types and styles.

Proper installation of standoffs is paramount to achieving both the functional and aesthetic value. However, we are presenting here a step by step installation of standoff signs for right installation of the signage.

Choose the Right Location

Make sure that the surface you are choosing is smooth and clean, since a smooth surface may allow for proper installation.

Moreover, when choosing an appropriate height, keep in mind that ADA protocols require the center of the sign to be 60 inches above the floor. Moreover, if you are installing the sign near a door, keep the sign on the latched side of the door, 2 to 3 inches from the door jamb.

Additionally, if there are double doors, the sign should be installed on the right side of the entrance. If there is no space available to the right of the door, place the sign on the nearest adjacent wall.

Take Right Measurements

Once you have chosen the right location to install the signage, measure the spacing between anchor points. Since anchor points significantly influence the adhesion, as well as the look of the signage, you should pay particular attention when deciding on the spacing between anchor points.

Install the Anchors

After determining the right spacing, drill holes in the wall. Then, install the anchors attached to the screws into the wall surface. Typically, standoffs come in a set of four. Place each anchor into the wall surface and attach the back portion of the standoff to the anchors.

Install the Sign

Thread the sign into the standoff. Make sure that the sign is properly fixed, as loosely installed signage may break easily. Once the signage is in place, install the cap over the threaded stud. Usually, caps come in different styles which are installed in various ways; some slide into the place, while others snap on the rear end of the standoff. No matter which type of cap you use, always double check the standoff to ensure that it is properly anchored and that the sign has been sturdily fixed.
