The Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away at the age of 92

A sad piece of news for music lovers all around the globe, the legendary Indo-Pak singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away today at the age of 92-years. The corpse of the Nightingale of India was cremated at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park.

She was laid to rest with full state honors. Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital due to her deteriorating health condition, but she couldn’t fight her illness much longer and passed away today on Sunday 6th February 2022.

Lata Mangeshkar was born to a musical family to parents Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar and Shevanti Mangeshkar on 28th September 1929. She was born in Indore, British India. She was given the titles of Queen Of Melody, Nightingale of India, and Voice of the Millennium due to her soothing and melodious voice. Lata started her singing career in 1942 at the age of 13-years. Throughout her career, spanning more than 70-years, Lata Mangeshkar sang more than 25,000 songs in more than 36 different languages.

She received several national and international accolades in recognition of her singing. Her accolades and awards include the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Bharat Ratna, and the highest French civilian award Officer of the National Order of the Legion of Honor.
