The Famous Landmark of Hanoi
Travelling to Vietnam isn’t complete
without seeing Hanoi and its French Quarter. The French Quarter is perhaps the
most resplendent part of this animated, bustling town.
The French architects blessed this section
of town with wide Parisian boulevards, leafy green canopies, and superb
examples of French Colonial architecture. It is also the best place in Hanoi to
escape the hectic pace (and motorbikes) and takes quiet strolls up and down the
avenues. The quarter also houses the 100-year old Hanoi Opera house, where
concerts are held weekly for a modest sum.
Hanoi Opera House is a great construction
built by the French Colonialist Government during the early years of the 20th
century. Harley and Broyer were designers. This design was much modified by
ideas of some architects. The work was started on june, 7th, 1901, undertaken
by a local supervisor - Harley Architect. Mr Travary and Savelon were in charge
of the construction. The work, the peak of which is 34 meters above the ground,
was carried out in a total area of 2600 square meters with the 87-meter length
and 30-meter width. The designers consulted Corankta Greek ancient architecture
in combination with Tuylory Castle and Opera de Paris to form a unique
architecture.
A little odd, this centuries-old French
colonial building is a Hanoi landmark and hosts regular performances of operas
and musicals by Vietnamese composers. The opera house is a former Western artists
and French musicians official stage for highly acclaimed performance. This experience is also part of Azooki’s Hanoi Tour offering.
The theatre is the place where the
Vietnamese Orchestra chooses to perform on regular basis, occasionally along
with famous artists from all over the world. In the past the place had invited
the violinist Hilary Hahn, the cellist Yo-yo Ma, the pianist Wolfgang Glemser
or the conductor Gudni Emilsson. The two remarkable classical concerts
performed annually at Hanoi Opera House are Toyota Concert and Hennessy
Classical Concert, which both are international-scale performances with
renowned classical artists.
Furthermore, there is other of
craftsmanship occasions running from the customary Vietnamese music to the more
stylish popular music by residential artists with high notoriety, for example,
My Linh, Thanh Lam or Hong Nhung.
This opera house hosts a variety of
performances which include: concerts, ballet performances, orchestra
performances, musicals, and theatrical plays. The Hanoi Opera House consists of
three levels with a total of 600 seats. Depending on the type of performance,
the cost for admission to this theatre range in price from 500 vnd to 3,000,000
vnd.
