The Fact That Travel Is The Best Form Of Education Cannot Be Overemphasized

by Jessica Merrel Writer

Traveling may not be on anyone’s mind at the moment. But let truth be told, the fact that traveling is the best form of education cannot be denied. Getting education in a classroom or through a textbook is alright, but it won’t be wrong to say that such conventional modes are hardly as fulfilling or effective as traveling the world is. As you travel the world, you get to expand your horizon like you could never have imagined.

An overseas travel teaches you so many life lessons that you won’t receive in a classroom setting. Nothing can be compared to the lessons learnt through traveling the world. In fact, all of us will be in agreement to the fact that real education happens outside the classroom. Travel is the best teacher. Leaving your own four corners and stepping out into the world is the best decision you’ll ever make. Traveling is the best form of education you can get no matter the places you choose to travel and adventures you have.

Outlining the reasons traveling is the best form of education and ways it increases your wisdom:

Learn new languages- As cliché as it is, but traveling gives the opportunity to learn a new language as you interact with the locals in their mother tongue. You will inadvertently start talking to them in their mother tongue, thus picking a new language through that. If you want to, you can do your fare share of language studying in the weeks leading up to your departure. Not to mention, talking with native speakers in their own language will help expand your cultural horizons, and improve your listening and speaking capabilities.

It inspires creativity- Your creativity is enhanced as you set out on a trip. According to research, an experience one gains on foreign soil boosts both cognitive flexibility and depth of thought. Too add to your creativity, make it a point to purposefully engage by immersing yourself in the local culture as you are out on travel.

Discover yourself- Humans are there in every corner of the globe with varied cultures and traditions. Moving across the globe gives the opportunity to discover new and beautiful cultures, learn about ancient belief systems and hear interesting stories about life in different environments from the people who actually inhabit the place. Not to mention, travel compels you to leave your comfort zone thereby leading to numerous growth opportunities as you immerse yourself into the unfamiliar. When you are out of your comfort zone, the best way to sail through any travel mishap is having a positive attitude. If in case you get lost in an unfamiliar territory, being optimistic will encourage you to explore people and things you may have otherwise missed, and later be grateful for the rich experience. Add to that, you’ll discover yourself further as you gain insights into other people, places, and cultures.

Witness the current state of the world- In no way can a text book give you a glimpse into the current state of the world or into what life is really like outside textbooks and classrooms.  Visiting another country first-hand can bust any myths you had surrounding the people that reside there. In short, nothing compares to exploring a city or place yourself.

Make sure to carry all vital documents as you travel overseas, including your international driver’s license to be able to smoothly rent and drive a car on foreign soil, government issued driver’s license, passport, and other necessary documents.

Summing everything up, learning through practical/visual information cannot be matched to any other form of learning. It helps to grasp things faster and better. The greater the amount of exposure, the better you are able to understand and connect with things. It is a proven fact that individuals respond better to visual learning in comparison to text, and what better way to learn than traveling. If you wish to explore and unravel the knowledge various places/countries have to offer, just pack your bags and hit the road.
