Optical storage is data storage on a medium which is optically readable. Optical Storage Media has come a long way. The first system was the Compact Disc which was launched in 1982 to store data. This was mainly for audio and video storage.

What came after this was the DVD (Digital Video Disc) which was rolled out in the late 90’s. Here too, people could store audio and video data. This was followed by DVD+R. These were very popular at that time.

After this came the era of high-definition television and because of this another format of optical storage media was launched- the HD DVD. Moser Baer has the lowest cost optical media producer in the world. Moser Baer is also the first company to market sophisticated storage products like Blu-Ray discs and HD-DVD in India.
