The Chipoo hybrid
Have you thought about adopting an adorable hybrid breed of dog? If you are one of those people, like me, who loves small dogs like the Chihuahua, you may consider an adorable little hybrid dog like the Chipoo (or Poochi). This is a little dog with a mix of Chihuahua and toy poodle. Their characteristic traits are that of both the Chihuahua and the poodle.
The Chihuahua is actually the smallest breed of dog which ironically is named after the largest town in Mexico, Chihuahua. Their actually origination is unknown. The poodle is believed to have originated from Germany back in the 13th century. The poodle got its’ name from a German word “pudeln” which means “splashing in the water” because they are performing dogs and were used to carry messages and supplies during the War. The poodle comes in three sizes; the toy, miniature and standard sizes.
The chihuahua poodle mix usually picks up traits of both parenting breeds. The Chihuahua is very loyal to his own family, not always with other people and dogs, except for other Chihuahuas. I have to speak for myself, our three Chihuahuas love anyone and everyone who will give them attention and have been raised with several other dogs, so it does depend upon their upbringing and the amount of time and love and attention you give them. They are very energetic and can be bit stubborn, jealous, and boasting a large dog attitude. However, proper obedience training can keep these traits in check. The Poodle is highly intelligent, easy to train, loving, and devoted to their families. A great combination of traits between the two breeds.
