There have been many studies and a myriad of opinions from various quarters, which debate on the effects of workout on your menstruation. While some talk in positive aspects, others argue that workout is not good for health during periods. The real answer to this can only be one – listen to yourself and do what you feel is right for you. Here are a few exercises, which do not play any dirty games with you during your period and are completely fine. However, the eventual decision maker is you.

Walking: Even the experts, who are against hardcore workout during periods, will agree that a walk always gets you moving without any danger or injury. So, put on those sneakers and the sun block, and straightaway hit the road. Taking a walk in itself is not a big calorie burner, but one will definitely feel good about the very fact that you went out and exercised. Do not stress on the calorie count.

Running: If you feel like jogging, simply go for it. During a cardio workout, the endorphins released by the body help you fight the period cramps. Before, after and even during the run, hydrate yourself well. Some scholars say that during periods, dehydration is quick. Well, whether true or not, it is still always safe to take precautions. Run along with an energy drink in your hand.

Yoga: This workout is customizable. There are many poses, which can be done according to your level of skill. During period, we would not recommend inversions, although it has no definite medical basis. But still, getting the option to simply relax in that goddess position in case you're not ready for a headstand will feel nice.

Aerobics: Sometimes, while on your period, you only want to get a bit crazy. Aerobic exercise will be perfect way to simply let loose. Also, aerobics classes typically are held in a quite low-pressure environment to focus more on fun.

Dancing: Grooving it up on the dance floor is not really exercise as such, but it surely will rev up your heart rate and in turn burn up few calories. This is absolutely a great option since it does not feel like any exercise. And when you are all up during your period, you may need a bit of motivation to get all pumped up and feel amazing about whom you really are. Going out for an evening of some dance and fun certainly will give you that oomph factor and make you feel just so fabulous.

Planking: So, when it is that particular time of the month, you just want to stay home and enjoy movies on Netflix. Make the most of the idiot box and your time on it by holding the plank position in commercials.

Ø  Just get down on the floor.

Ø  Then put the elbows and arms under the chest.

Ø  Slowly raise the body using your toes and forearms, and hold.

If your body and cramps permit, you can even workout at your daily wellness center in Gurgaon on periods, but in the case, it doesn’t, you know what to do at home!
