Technological Factors to Improve IVF Success Rate

Every couple desire to expand its family and aspires to become parents at some point in their life. There are lots of factors such as quality of egg and sperm, age of the patient, cause of infertility, the lifestyle of intended parents, and so on. But technological factors are above these all for a successful IVF cycle. IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is a method of fertilization, where the egg is combined with sperms outside the body, fertilized in the lab, and transferred to the uterus.

1.      Sanitization and Hygiene of IVF Labs

IVF labs are something where the technological magic happens, thus these labs must be highly disinfected. The access to the IVF lab should be through semi-sterilized means.

·           The experts working in the labs must wear specially made scrubs and clothes having fewer chances of fibers coming out of it so that sample quality is maintained.

·           The experts working in the lab must use special soaps to sanitize their hands that are alcohol and odor-free.

 

2.      Air Quality Inside an IVF Lab

IVF is a very sensitive and delicate procedure where the used labs and equipment must be highly sanitized and disinfected. Air curtains are used to segregate the air outside from the inside of the laboratory. Inside the lab, air purifiers ensure to maintain the air quality of the room. The air quality meter inside the lab always indicates the particulate matter in the air.

 

3.      Bacteria Free IVF Operating Theatre

Apart from using the air quality controller and sanitization equipment, the major focus is the build of laboratory and its equipment that should be least prone to bacteria contamination.

·         The architecture of walls inside the laboratory must be built with bacteria-free tiles. The ceiling must be painted with special bacteria-free paint with a coating of epoxy that is also odor-free so that no parasite can grow.

·         All equipment inside the laboratory must be made of stainless steel and moveable or kept on the moveable stands so that not a single inch inside the lab can accumulate bacteria.

 

4.      Specifications of Workstation

Workstation is where the egg is separated from the fluid and sperms are separated from semen. A a special type of light is maintained on the workstation so that it does not hamper the temperature, that is the body temperate (37 degrees Celsius), and does not affect the sample, negatively.

5.      Highly Equipped Machines

The heart of the IVF is Exy machine, which contains two needles like structure that is used to bring the egg and sperm together to fertilize the egg and create the embryo.
