Social Media Marketing Don’ts: Are you guilty?
Undoubtedly, social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest are used by most businesses, especially the startups to make their brands known. It’s the fastest way to get clients with just a few clicks away. Knowing its advantages, if you can’t and don’t use it properly, you might fall into the trap of staining your brand.
Check these habits you might be unconsciously doing:
Absence of Social Media Strategy
“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail” is one of the many cliches but always committed by most. Though social media platforms are ever evolving and flexible, it doesn’t necessarily justifies the lack of a concrete strategy. It’s best to have a plan to guide you towards achieving your desired goals.
Too many Social Media Accounts
Presence is important but if you can’t specialize or master in all platforms, then drop the idea. Never sacrifice quality over quantity, because at the end of the day, what your audience and potential customers will look for is value. Prioritize what would give you the most conversions.
Brand Centered Posts
The main purpose of creating social media accounts is to make your brand known, but then again, flooding your audience with purely product promotions is the surest way to lose them. When creating posts, have a mindset of a normal facebook or twitter user (of course, that should be your target audience’s). It is only through it, you’ll be able to come up with engaging content.
Ghosting
What is the goal of social media? It’s very simple - to socialize. How do you socialize? You communicate -- engage in meaningful conversations and share insights with your audience. Establishing relationship, especially gaining trust is never easy, especially in the virtual world. That’s why, you can’t just rely on scheduled posts alone, not unless you want to appear like a robot to your audience. Take time to reply; it’ll pay off, you’ll see.
Are you, by any chance, guilty of these bad habits? If yes, then, wake up! It’s never too late to change your attitude in handling social media accounts. Take it seriously, or better hire a social media specialist instead. Never let your brand get left behind.
